This infographic is a visualization of raw data from 1970 to 2008 for three variables: recessions, inflation, and gross domestic product (GDP). The correlation between high inflation rate and low GDP rate that precipitates stagflation is illustrated in overlapping line and bar charts. In addition, this dataplot explicates the stagflation trends from 1970s and 1980s that reoccurs in the mid 2000s. This infographic serves as a supporting graphic for the article from the Business section of the New York Times.
